It was Elvis Week on the hit FOX reality show American Idol Tuesday night. On hand to mentor the nine remaining contestants was last season’s runner-up Adam Lambert.
Last week the judges were in sync and very high on all of the contestants but this week we saw a divided group once again. Randy and Ellen tended to be at odds with Kara and Simon – and the singing hopefuls got more mixed messages as a result.
The best performance of the night was delivered by Crystal Bowersox, who appears to have the contest all wrapped up at this point. Strumming a bejeweled guitar, she nailed “Saved”.
Katie Stevens had some fun with “Baby What You Want Me to Do”. She decided to use the song as a vehicle for channeling her frustration with the judges. It was perky and upbeat and Ellen and Randy loved it. Their counterparts at the other end of the panel apparently took offense to the notion that the 17-year-old was having some fun at their expense. Kara sniped, “I guess you told the judges.” We loved her performance – her second week in a row of bringing her A game.
The judges also liked Lee DeWyze, who performed “A Little Less Conversation”, and they praised Michael Lynche for his rendition of “In The Ghetto”. Lambert coached Big Mike to be a little more theatrical with the number but he didn’t take the bait after getting rebuked by the judges in past weeks for being “over the top”.
Tim Urban impressed the judges with “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, though for the life of me — I don’t see what they are seeing. Casey James, who has been strong in the past few weeks, didn’t find favor with Cowell for “Laudy Miss Claudy”. The prickly judge called it a “missed opportunity” and Kara said he “fell short of brilliance”.
Struggling were Andrew Garcia with “Hound Dog”, Aaron Kelly with “Blue Suede Shoes” and Siobhan Magnus for “Suspicious Minds”. Of the three, Siobhan has the strongest vocals and shows the most potential but hasn’t settled into a style — a fact that is irritating DioGuardi.
Magnus had a good comeback with, “Even I can’t pinpoint who I am and I don’t think it’s necessary to be one thing. I’ve always prided myself for being different.” The audience broke into spontaneous applause.
Two contestants will be eliminated on Wednesday night. As we see it, Garcia and Kelly should start packing their bags because it looks like they have reached the end of the line.
It was elimination night on the hit ABC reality show Dancing With the Stars and the results weren’t too surprising. Landing in the bottom two this week were Niecy Nash and Aiden Turner. When all was said and done, the Irish actor and his partner Edyta Sliwinska were shown the door.
After the show Aiden and Edyta headed over to a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live! to talk about their stint on DWTS – see it on video below.
Kate Gosselin had the lowest scores on Monday but her fan base continues to keep her out of harms way. She seemed genuinely thrilled to have another week on the show and even alluded that she was starting to “get the whole dance thing”.
A little positive feedback this week from judge Bruno seems to have shored up her lack of confidence and the increasing paycheck, her real motivator, continues to increase with each passing week. With an ex-husband who doesn’t work and eight children to clothe, feed and educate, she has decided that the weekly humiliation she is suffering is worth it.
Martial arts actor Steven Segal is being sued by Kayden Nguyen, a 23-year-old former model who was hired by Segal as an executive assistant in February, 2009.
Nguyen alleges Seagal treated her “as his sex toy” and tried to fondle her breasts and force his hand down her pants on her first night as his assistant.
Nguyen is suing for sexual harassment, illegal trafficking of females for sex, failure to prevent sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination and false representation about employment.
The lawsuit also alleges that, “Mr. Seagal has been keeping two young female Russian ‘attendants’ on staff who were available for his sexual needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
Nguyen claims that she was required “to watch as “Sasha” (Russian attendant) and Mr. Seagal performed sex acts on each other.”
Nguyen is suing for damages in excess of $1 million and has requested a jury trial.
Seagal’s lawyer, Marty Singer, insists Nguyen is lying, “The lawsuit filed by Kayden Nguyen against Steven Seagal is a ridiculous and absurd claim by a disgruntled ex-employee who was fired. The claims in her lawsuit are a complete fabrication without a scintilla of truth. Steven Seagal’s attorney Marty Singer stated that “I am extremely confident this meritless lawsuit will be dismissed. Ms. Nguyen filed her lawsuit without even notifying Steven Seagal or his representatives of her alleged claims because she was aware that claims could be asserted against her based on her own conduct. Her lawsuit is nothing more than a preemptive strike by a disgruntled ex-employee.”
There has been widespread speculation that Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren are headed for divorce since news of Tiger’s multiple affairs made headlines worldwide.
In December, People reported the Elin planned to leave him – quoting a source that said, “She’s made up her mind. There’s nothing to think about: he’s never going to change.”
Then in January, a source close to Elin said that she wanted to keep her family together even if she and Tiger lived as friends instead of lovers.
Now, a new report by Entertainment Tonight says that a divorce between Tiger and Elin is imminent.
Perhaps the latest news that Tiger also had an affair with his 21-year-old neighbor, Raychel Coudriet, was the last straw for Elin.
Well, it’s never too late to find true love and it seems that ladies man Hugh Hefner has done just that. The Playboy founder is known for sharing his love with a long parade of girlfriends! No more says Hef! At the ripe old age of 84, he is finally ready to settle down with just one woman — Crystal Harris.
Actually, this isn’t a new relationship. We covered the beginning of their romance, along with a hot photo gallery, in January 2009 but apparently their relationship has evolved to a new level.
Hef revealed, “She’s very real, and although she has her aspirations, the major thing in her life is our relationship. The problem with some of the other girls is that there were other motivations, their careers. This is more like true love. She is, as they say, the real deal.”
Awww sweet! We wonder if any of his former girlfriends feel bad that he didn’t choose them. On second thought, we doubt it. Most of them have done quite well for themselves.
The billionaire is fully aware that his lifestyle was never conventional but he was always open with his partners and expressed his distaste with cheaters. He remarked, “When you get married, you make a commitment. I had a lot of girlfriends, but it’s not the same as cheating. I don’t cheat. I am very open about what I do.”
Given the pop superstar’s overt sexuality, Lady GaGa advocating celibacy may come as a surprise!
The 24-year-old singer, whose songs and videos glorify sex and sexuality, told fans that she is practicing abstinence and urged them to do the same.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this – don’t have sex,” Gaga said in England, where she is promoting MAC’s Viva Glam Campaign to fight AIDS. “It’s okay not to have sex, it’s okay to get to know people,” she says. “I’m celibate, celibacy’s fine.”
One of her reasons for celibacy is the increasing number of HIV cases in women around the world.
Lady GaGa also says, “It’s okay to be whomever it is that you want to be,” says Gaga. “You don’t have to have sex to feel good about yourself, and if you’re not ready, don’t do it … It’s not really cool anymore to have sex all the time. It’s cooler to be strong and independent.”
