It is no question that “Jersey Shore” has given MTV huge ratings. In just one season the show has rapidly made a huge impact on pop culture. Reality TV on MTV has always been successful; MTV’S “The Real World” will soon kick off its 24th season and is the networks longest running and most successful program. “Jersey Shore” filmed in a Real-World-type style follows the lives of eight cast mates and their lives on the Jersey Shore.

With their lifestyle basically consisting of going to the gym, tanning and doing laundry- GTL, along with their clothing choices, language and hairstyles, the show was bound to make some uncomfortable.

The cast of Jersey Shore angered a lot of Italian Americans who believed that the MTV show was portraying Italian Americans in a negative light. Well it seems that the self proclaimed “Guidos” and “Guidettes” are not even Italian. Cast mate Jenni “JWoww” Farley sat down on Fox’s Strategy Room where she admitted that many of the cast mates are not Italian at all.

This is sure to be a shocker to the fans, but maybe it will also be a relief to the Italian Americans who were offended by the show. It is not a new concept for shows based on stereotypes to offend. VH1’s “Flavor of Love” starring Flavor Flav also angered many members of the African American community when it premiered in 2006. Despite the criticism of both shows, they never failed to bring in enormous ratings. MTV has confirmed that the Jersey Shore will be back for a second season.

Golfer’s agent Mark Steinberg has announced that his client Tiger Woods will break his silence by making a public statement on Friday, February 19, 2010 at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Woods is adamant that the Friday event is NOT a news conference. Come on Tiger – you have invited a press pool, with live coverage streaming around the world and fans straining to hear your first public words since the end of November. That’s big news indeed.

According to Steinberg, “Tiger plans to discuss his past and his future and he plans to apologize for his behavior. This is all about the next step. He’s looking forward to it. It’s time to make amends and to publicly do that.”

Tiger’s planned statement comes some 10 weeks after he disappeared from public life. The majority of that time was spent at a Mississippi clinic for sex addiction.

He will speak to “a small group of friends, colleagues and close associates” at a gathering that will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be broadcast from PGA Tour headquarters. It seems doubtful that Woods will entertain press questions beyond what is being characterized as the delivery of a short prepared statement to his invited guests.

Tiger’s website also carried this new statement: “While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between him and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him. He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends, and that’s what he’s going to discuss.”

The battle between reality TV dad Jon Gosselin and TLC is finally over.

“TLC has reached a settlement with Jon Gosselin and will be undertaking procedural steps to conclude the litigation,” the network said in a statement Wednesday. “All terms of the settlement are confidential. The whole Gosselin family remain under contract with TLC. ”

The drama between the network and Gosselin included a breach of contract lawsuit filed by TLC against Gosselin. The suit claimed Gosselin was in violation of his agreement when he made paid and unpaid TV appearances without the cable network’s permission.

Gosselin filed a $5 million counterclaim, saying that the cable network was damaging his career by preventing him from working with other media outlets. Gosselin also forbid the network from filming his eight children with Kate Gosselin.
